LIFE ENHANCING GARDENS
Cincinnati, OH Beckwith Chapman Associates designed three gardens for LifeSphere/Maple Knoll village to enhance the lives of residents and encourage intergenerational activities. The memory garden for dementia care residents builds upon research that demonstrates human beings have a ‘pre-cognitive’ response to nature and the beneficial attributes that it can provide. The children’s garden for Maple Knoll Montessori School is an important enrichment for learning and stimulating the imagination of children. The enabling garden provides universal access and hands-on horticultural therapy for residents of all ages and abilities.
