SPORTS CENTER

The Recreational Sports Center is located in one of the central blocks of
campus. The challenge to the landscape architect was to accommodate the scale
of the building, with a footprint of 2.5 acres, within a traditional campus
fabric. Beckwith Chapman Associates analyzed the block as it related to the
campus master plan, the adjacent residential neighborhood, and the campus open
space configurations. These issues determined the location, orientation, and
massing of the structure. BCA was responsible for the site planning, the design
of the site elements including plazas, service courts, and leisure patio.
