PCHS MUSEUM CENTER
An Educational Gateway to Southwest Ohio’s Historical, Agricultural and Natural Heritage

Eaton, OH

The Preble County Historical Society’s Museum Center is nestled into the topography of an existing bluff overlooking low-laying cropland. The bluff also serves as a natural accessible connector between the Museum Center and the Swartsel Farm site by sharing common topography.

Implementation of sustainable site design strategies include; opportunities for permeable paving, use of the “old” field as overflow parking, the extension of a natural swale as a significant site feature and stormwater collector, and a roof top “meadow” above the facility’s multi-purpose room.

The design also incorporates a 200 seat amphitheater carefully graded into the adjacent hillside.
