OXFORD COMMUNITY ARTS CENTER
Oxford, OH

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Oxford College will become the new home of the Oxford Community Arts Center. Beckwith Chapman Associates’ planning for preservation and adaptive re-use of the structure developed around two principal occupants: OxAct, a community theater group, and the Smith Library of Regional History. Significant renovations to the west wing of the building will transform the modest one-story auditorium into a two-story theater space seating 200. The Smith Library is carefully located in the north wing, preserving the historic Reading Room. Two other important spaces, the Ballroom and East Parlor, will be preserved and used for special functions. Building renovations will provide for improved accessibility.
